NMN Supplements

NMN is short for Nicotinamide Mononucleotide. It’s a fascinating compound that’s receiving more and more attention in the health community and in science. Read more about NMN and about NMN supplements here.

What exactly is NMN?

NMN is a nucleotide, which means that it’s an essential molecule for many biological processes in our body. A nucleotide is an organic molecule that plays an important part in cellular metabolism. Nucleotides are building blocks of DNA and RNA, the genetic components that store hereditary traits.

NMN is a precursor of the coenzyme NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide). It also naturally exists in our body.

What does NMN do in your body?

When NMN is ingested, it can be converted into NAD+ by the body. NAD+ plays an important role in the energy production within cells. It functions as a type of fuel for mitochondria, the power centres of cells. Because of this, the mitochondria can do their job properly.

NMN works alongside other chemicals in the body to support these processes. This makes it an important aspect of the NAD+ metabolism, where it’s a forerunner to NAD+ and thus enabling the production of NAD+.

A lot of research is being done on the working of NMN. The results of this are promising. However, until these research projects have been included in the EU’s database, we legally aren’t allowed to point to them.

It goes without saying that we sincerely believe in the potency and working of NMN supplements!

NMN supplements

NMN is naturally found in small quantities in various types of food, including broccoli, cole, avocado, and in small quantities in meat and fish too. It also naturally exists in our body as an intermediate product in the NAD+ metabolism. While the amounts of NMN in food are limited, advanced techniques are used to obtain NMN from natural sources. This is what we use to make quality supplements.

As we age, the natural amount of NMN in our body decreases. It still enters our body through our food, but the amount of it is hard to gauge. Furthermore, not all NMN that’s found in our food is actually absorbed by our body.

A supplement, like NMN, is never a replacement for a good diet and a healthy lifestyle. It should be seen as an addition to a varied diet.

Which NMN supplement is the best?

Boinca’s supplement, of course!

All jokes aside, you should look for a supplement that’s made of plant-based ingredients. The alternative is a supplement with synthetic ingredients. Those don’t necessarily work less effectively, but if you’re choosing a supplement to support your body, a natural base is nice to have. That way, you know exactly what you’re consuming and that the ingredients aren’t harmful.

That’s why Boinca chooses a plant-based basis for all our supplements, including our NMN supplements.
